REACH Europe 2009

Fifth International Conference on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals
24-25 June 2009
Two and a half years after the adoption of Europe's most radical piece of chemicals legislation, iSmithers brings the fifth in its successful series of REACH conferences to Amsterdam.
REACH continues to change the way many chemical products are manufactured and used. For those across the chemicals supply chain - including all downstream sectors involved with manufacturing and trading products containing chemicals -the challenge has just begun. With the 1st December 2008 deadline for pre-registration now behind us, the pooling of existing test data within the Substance Information Exchange Forums (SIEFs) has raised questions over the rules on cost-sharing, the implications of 'no data, no market' and the appropriate use of Only Representatives.
While pre-registration was branded 'free and simple', everyone is bracing themselves for the challenge of meeting the first registration deadline in 2010. Many practical aspects must still be resolved in order to ensure the completion of dossiers containing confidential information on product chemistry, quantity and use.
During this busy time for all involved in REACH, it is critical that you keep up to date with the ever evolving developments across industry and from the European Chemical Agency. After all, even once registered a substance can be subject to regulatory review under Evaluation or Restriction, as well as other legislative frameworks.
This conference will provide an opportunity to assess the current status of the regulation and to learn from a wide range of organisations just how the regulations are working and what actions industry has taken to ensure compliance.
iSmithers fifth REACH conference will examine the impact that REACH has on global business - both directly and through customers in the supply chain. Attendees will have opportunities to exchange experiences with others from every stage of the chemical supply chain, discuss individual REACH concerns with experts and provide valuable feedback to authority representatives on how REACH is working in practice.
